Services - Residence and Respite Unit

The “daily living environment” approach is to provide nursing care in a homelike environment while remaining focused on the comfort and well-being of all residents. The “daily living environment” unit is located in the CRME and offers its residents the advantage of being in both a stimulating environment and in close proximity of the rehabilitation team.

The nursing team (nurses, auxiliary nurse and orderlies) works 24 hours a day to meet the health needs of the children and to ensure that they and their families are comfortable.

A stable team of rehabilitation workers is favoured so that they may bond and create a more personal contact with the children and their families.

The team also includes remedial teachers, who teach in a special room in the unit. They provide teaching services in accordance with the Montreal School Board’s program. With the collaboration of volunteers, daily activities are organized to stimulate, relax or inspire the children.

Clients also enjoy massage therapy, the company of visiting animals, music from a live pianist and visits by Dr. Clown.
