Objectives - School Rehabilitation Program

The objectives of the services provided to clients in these schools by rehabilitation professionals are as follows:

  • To foster their integration into school as well as their full participation in school activities
  • To develop their skills and functional abilities in order to achieve their lifelong goals (academic, family and social)
  • To enhance their autonomy while minimizing setbacks brought on by the disability
  • To cultivate their compensatory abilities, specifically through the use of assistive aids
  • To provide families, loved-ones, schools and other partners with training and support in their respective roles
  • To provide them and their families with support regarding social integration and participation
  • To enhance the children’s and family’s quality of life

At the Centre Amis des Mots (CAM), services provided by rehabilitation professionals to clients with a language impairment focus on the following objectives:

  • To help the family adjust to the child’s communication problems
  • To enhance the child’s personal autonomy by optimizing his/her abilities to carry out daily living activities
  • To help the child adjust to his/her communication difficulties with people of his/her entourage
  • To create the required conditions for achieving school integration

It is dedicated to providing ongoing and indispensable support for the 5,000 children with locomotor or speech impairments being cared for at the Marie Enfant Rehabilitation Centre (CRME).
