Daily living Respite unit

For many years now, the Centre de réadaptation Marie Enfant (CRME) has been making its residence and respite unit available to all children who need temporary or permanent accommodations.

The residence unit is a daily living environment that acts as a substitute to the family home, which can accommodate 20 children with multiple disabilities. The residence receives children and their families with respect and dignity in an environment that is accessible, comfortable, friendly and safe.

In May 2007, unit staff, parents and other employees of the CRME stepped up their plans to make the daily living quarters even more comfortable, warm and stimulating for its residents.

The residence unit had a facelift

The children’s daily living quarters now has a “Main Avenue” (the main hallway). Each resident now has a view onto the Main as well as a main door with a personalized address and letterbox used to communicate with their parents. The main avenue is sunny and has a clear blue sky with birds, butterflies, trees and flowers.

The residents also have access to a large living room, which faces a beautiful park (mural on the wall). Parents, siblings and friends are all welcome to play with the children in the game room or to watch a movie in the movie house, well-surrounded by those who love them.

Adjacent to the children’s living room, parents have a living room of their own, which they can use to rest or to share any of their concerns with other parents. This room is warm, quiet and comfortable.

The Snoezelen room for sensory stimulation is another wonderful feature among many others.
You are invited to visit and appreciate this stimulating daily living environment.
